I’ve found a new hobby this summer... and one that pays!  After a few sample onesies, my friends encouraged me to start selling them. They are sold at Redtree Gallery, and on my website, OleyDesigns.com.

Update: In September, I sold my 50th onesie!!!!!

(I think this is taking off?)

happy mother’s day

Sunday, May 11, 2008

I sewed this handbag for my mom as a Mother’s Day gift. The fabric is Amy Butler, and the pattern is the smaller version of the Frenchy Bag.

wedding cakes

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Some friends of mine from work got together to help make the wedding cake and dessert buffet for a co-worker’s wedding reception. My assignment: five chocolate cakes. In addition to my cakes, we also made Lemon Cake, Carrot Cake, Cheese Cake, and Chocolate Chip Cookies. I should give credit to Ethan for this project... he baked all the chocolate cakes, so all I had to do was decorate them. He was an incredible help!

it’s spring!

April 2008

Ethan and I love to garden. He plants the vegetables (and drives his 1982 Wheel Horse tractor around) and I grow the flowers. We make a pretty good team, and I’m glad the weather is starting to warm up for us.

photo shoot

Saturday, April 19, 2008

I got a Nikon D40 camera for Christmas, and I love taking pictures. I spent an hour “practicing” the functions of the camera with my friend, Betsy and her beautiful daughter, Corinne. This is my favorite shot.

frenchy bag

Sunday, March 30, 2008

This was the first Amy Butler bag I sewed. This crazy fabric is from St. Theresa’s Textile Trove in College Hill. I really love Amy Butler’s fabric, but when I was shopping with my sister, she encouraged me to try something different.

chloe

Thursday, March 20, 2008

I couldn’t stop myself. None of my friends were having babies this month, but I thought of one little girl who I left out. I managed to make this blanket in time for Chloe’s first birthday. So a year later, with a new Janome machine and a big table, I think Chloe got a better crafted blanket.

place mats

Saturday, March 8, 2008

Our town was hit with a big snow storm that kept me house-bound for a day. The result of being cooped up... two lovely place mats.
